Rhode Island Credit Union was founded in 1946 when a small group of state employees decided to use their personal resources to come to the aid of a fellow employee who needed money for his wife’s hospital bills. This all began out of a desk drawer in a small room in the State House.
Today, we are a community credit union with membership open to anyone who lives or works in Rhode Island or within 50 miles of the Rhode Island border. As a member of Rhode Island Credit Union, you’ll enjoy many financial benefits and always be provided with prompt, courteous and professional service.
Benefits of Membership
The benefits of membership with a credit union far outweigh those with another type of financial institution. Credit unions are not-for-profit, member-owned, democratically controlled financial cooperatives. They are organizations operated entirely by and for their members.
Membership with Rhode Island Credit Union provides you with a wide range of money saving products and services. You’ll find the same financial products with us that you find at other financial institutions. Our products are designed with you, the member, in mind. We are a financial organization committed to offering sound financial products in a professional and friendly environment.
